Two Coolidge Lawyers Named Lawyer of the Year 

Dayton, Ohio – Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession, has named Merle F. Wilberding as the “Dayton Best Lawyers Litigation-Real Estate Law Lawyer of the Year” for 2012, and has named Shannon L. Costello as the “Dayton Best Lawyers Real Estate Law Lawyer of the Year” for 2012. 

Being designated as a Lawyer of the Year for 2012 is a special accolade. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”  Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2012) is based on more than 3.9 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.

Merle Wilberding is a senior member at Coolidge Wall Co., L.P.A., a law firm whose history extends back more than 150 years in the Dayton community. Mr. Wilberding has been with the Coolidge firm for forty years. During that time, his real estate litigation has included appearances before various city and township planning commissions, boards of zoning appeals, city councils and city commissions, boards of revision, courts of common pleas, the Ohio Supreme Court, and petitions to the United States Supreme Court. His education includes degrees from St. Mary’s University (Minnesota) (B.A.), Notre Dame Law School (J.D.), George Washington University (LL.M.), University of Dayton (M.B.A.), and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (M.L.I.S.), as well as additional study at Oxford University in England. 

Shannon Costello has been with Coolidge Wall Co., L.P.A. for more than fifteen years, during which she worked on a vast number of complicated real estate transactions, including representing NCR throughout the disposition of its various Dayton properties including the purchase by the University of Dayton. Her education includes degrees from the Ohio State University (B.A.) and the University of Cincinnati School of Law (J.D.).
