Creditor Rights and Bankruptcy Our bankruptcy practice assists business clients involved in bankruptcy and other solvency situations, including Chapter 11 reorganizations and sales, Chapter 7 liquidations, and the restructuring of debt through out-of-court workout agreements. We also represent secured and unsecured creditors as well as a variety of other parties having dealings with bankruptcy estates. Much of our practice involves pending or imminent bankruptcy cases, but we also assist clients in anticipating and protecting against the consequences of possible future bankruptcies and in structuring transactions. Coolidge Wall attorneys practice primarily in the bankruptcy courts of the Southern District of Ohio, but also frequently are required to address matters in bankruptcy courts across the country. Our attorneys have a broad range of experience and are recognized as leaders in the field of bankruptcy law. For example, Ronald Pretekin, our Practice Group Leader, has served twice as a member and as chairman of the Panel for Merit Selection of Bankruptcy Judges, Southern District of Ohio, and as a Trustee for the American Bankruptcy Law Forum. He is also a member of the American Bar Association-Business Law Section (Uniform Commercial Code Committee) and the Ohio Bar Association (Banking, Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Committee) in addition to having served as chairman of the Debtor/Creditor and Bankruptcy Committee of the Dayton Bar Association.
