Environmental
The environmental department's multi-disciplinary legal foundation is drawn from the areas of corporate, real estate, litigation, and occupational safety and health law. The chair of this department has served as in-house environmental counsel for a Fortune 500 manufacturer. The department offers a practical, problem-solving approach to environmental compliance and enforcement cases.
The department provides consultation and advice concerning compliance issues in the areas of solid and hazardous waste management, air and water pollution control, and worker and community right to know. The department has also developed audit programs to evaluate the existing environmental compliance programs of its clients.
The department is involved in the representation of potentially responsible parties at numerous Superfund cleanup sites (over 40 National Priority List ("NPL") sites, several non-NPL sites); parties involved in asbestos enforcement proceedings under National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants "NESHAPS"; administrative proceedings before the U.S. EPA, Ohio EPA, Ohio Environmental Board of Review, and the Ohio Fire Marshal; and litigation representation in various state and federal courts. In keeping with the firm's commitment to being a full-service law firm, the department is also very active in other areas where environmental issues arise, such as real estate transactions, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and lender liability.
Clients include all types and sizes of businesses, from Fortune 500 companies to small and emerging enterprises. The department members have also served as sponsors and faculty for a variety of environmental seminars and workshops.
