Merle Wilberding Named to Governor Strickland’s Judicial Appointment Selection Panel

On May 15, 2009, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland announced his selections to serve on the Ohio Judicial Appointments Recommendation Panel that will review applications to fill the seat on the Dayton Municipal Court that will become vacant on June 30, 2009, due to the retirement of Judge Bill C. Littlejohn.
 
Applications to fill the seat will be accepted until June 4, 2009.  The Panel will review the applications and interview the finalists in Columbus on June 19, before sending its recommendations on to the Governor.  Whoever is appointed to fill the vacancy must run for election in the general election in November.  
 
The list of regional members are: Merle Wilberding (Coolidge Wall Co., LPA),  Tom Ritchie (Regional Director of AFSCME Ohio Council 8), Tom Hagel (Professor of Law at the University of Dayton School of Law), Willie Walker (retired president of the Dayton Urban League), Stacy M. Thompson (Vice President of Community Development for KeyBank and a member of the Dayton City Schools Board of Education), and Mark Owens (Clerk of Courts for Dayton Municipal Courts).
 
In addition, the following shall serve as at-large panel members:  Janet E. Jackson (Panel Chair and President and CEO of United Way of Central Ohio), Meg Flack (Board member of the Ohio League of Women Voters), Derric D. McDonald, Isabel Framer (court certified Spanish/English interpreter and chair of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Judicial Interpreters and Translators), and John Kulewicz (attorney, Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, LLP ).
