Coolidge Wall lawyers have access to their own substantial law library as well as to extensive electronic legal research resources. Lawyers are supported by a staff of experienced, trained paralegals and legal secretaries. Legal work is facilitated by sophisticated electronic and communications systems. This technology, which is constantly evaluated and improved by the firm, provides lawyers with numerous options for performing legal work through the most effective and cost-efficient means possible.
Since its inception, the firm has built its character through involvement in the growth and development of the business and economic community. Lewis Gunckel's grandfather was the founder and organizer of the community of Germantown; his father-in-law and brother-in-law established Winters Bank (which later became Bank One). In the ensuing century and a half, the firm's lawyers have participated in the establishment and development of numerous area financial institutions, schools, municipalities and businesses. The firm has provided legal services to community leaders and innovators, including the Kettering and Berry families.
The cumulative expertise and experience of the firm's lawyers serve a wide variety of clients, which include publicly owned corporations, closely held companies, partnerships, trusts, nonprofit and charitable organizations, municipalities and individuals.
A significant portion of the firm's clients are business enterprises, and the lawyers at Coolidge Wall have experience in virtually every area of commercial law. As additional client needs are identified or new areas of law develop, the firm adapts the makeup of its practice groups and pool of talent accordingly.
The firm selects its lawyers on the basis of superior academics, experience, expertise, and personal commitment to service. Lawyers at the firm are provided with peer review, mentoring, and continuing educational opportunities, so that they may better serve clients.
The Coolidge firm is committed to strengthening the quality of the legal profession. Firm lawyers have served on the faculty and Board of Trustees of the University of Dayton School of Law, in such organizations as Legal Aid, and as officers and committee members of the local, state, and national bar associations. In addition, firm lawyers often speak to professional, educational, and client groups, offering insight into legal issues and business trends.
Since the days of Lewis Gunckel's efforts as founder of the Dayton Soldiers Home, the firm has also demonstrated a continuing commitment to community service. It has been a long-held belief of the firm's lawyers that strengthening the quality of life in the community furthers the business and personal interests of everyone. Lawyers from Coolidge Wall now actively support and lead an array of civic, charitable, and cultural organizations.
The lawyers of Coolidge Wall strive to maintain a small-firm personal commitment to clients, while providing large-firm resources and expertise, with a special commitment to long-term relationships.
Over 150 years of experience has demonstrated that character, performance, and commitment compose the keystone of a law practice, and the lawyers of Coolidge Wall are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of each.
