Merle Wilberding Honored in “Seussical” by The Muse Machine
In recognition of his more than twenty years of service, contribution, and leadership, Merle Wilberding was honored by The Muse Machine by its dedication to him of its musical, Seussical. Merle served on the Board of The Muse Machine from 1990 – 1998 and since then has remained a faithful supporter of The Muse Machine and its mission to change lives, through participation in the arts and arts integration in the classroom setting.
The recognition was made on January 18, 2014, at a Benefit Dinner at the Dayton Racquet Club that was attended by more than 300 people. In accepting the dedication, Merle Wilberding praised The Muse Machine as a unique community asset that changes lives of its participants. “We all know Muse alumni who have gone on to star on Broadway, but we also know the many, many participants in the Muse program whose lives have been forever changed by their Muse Machine experience. It truly is an extraordinary experience.” After the dinner, everyone moved to The Victoria for a sold out performance of Seussical. More than 140 students from 100 area schools participated in Seussical and this production was a major success.
