Thomas “TJ” Scanlon serves as an associate in Coolidge Wall’s Workers’ Compensation practice, where he advises and represents both self-insured and state fund employers in all phases of claims management, injury investigations and litigation.  His work includes case analysis, discovery, motion practice, and appearances before the Ohio Industrial Commission and state courts. TJ brings his research and advocacy skills, along with a practical, client-focused approach to resolving workers’ compensation matters efficiently and effectively.

TJ graduated magna cum laude from the University of Dayton School of Law in 2025.  While at UD, he was a Law Review staff writer and an executive online editor.  In addition, TJ was in the Leadership Honors Program and a Dean’s Fellow. He also was a Themis Student Representative, a UD student ambassador, and member of the Hispanic Law Association.  TJ earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa, graduating magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and a minor in Law, Justice & Advocacy.

While in law school, TJ served as an extern with the University of Dayton Office of Legal Affairs, working with their legal team in areas of litigation, student matters, education, risk mitigation, real estate, contracts, disability, policy development, employment, and NCAA compliance. In addition, he was a law clerk at Coolidge Wall, assisting attorneys in commercial business litigation through extensive research and writing on topics such as workers’ compensation, real estate, contracts, estates, trusts, taxes, and bankruptcy. He also served as a law clerk for LOGS Legal Network in Rochester, New York, and legal intern for NY Supreme Court 7th Judicial District in Rochester, serving the Hon. Charles A Schiano Jr.
